HAMBURG, N.Y., – May 27, 2021 – Southtowns Walleye Association of Western New York Inc. (STWA) (www.southtownswalleye.com) announces its 37th Annual Walleye Derby from June 12th through June 20th 2021, on the waters of Lake Erie and the Upper Niagara River. With more than $100,000 in cash and prizes at stake, anglers throughout Western New York and multiple states will participate in the nine day event in search of a walleye worthy of the top prize. Current sign-ups are being accepted at various locations around Western New York until June 7th, or online at https://southtownswalleye.com/derby until June 1st at 11:59pm.
One of the newest prizes for this year is the STWA Champions NY Bounty, a NY waters only contest which is worth $1500 for the first fish weighed in closest to, but not over, the drawn weight which will be randomly selected by the previous year’s winners on Facebook Live at the June 10th general meeting, this special bounty fish must be caught within the New York boundaries of Lake Erie waters. We also have fabulous prizes this year from some of our great sponsor’s such as Garmin, Okuma, SPX Flow, Traxstech, Vmax Batteries, Kishel’s Scents, Ultimate Outdoors of WNY, Warrior Lures, Curly’s Grille, Cisco Fishing Systems, The Original Fish Grip and Integrated Benefit Solutions just to name a few, that will be awarded to several lucky people who get signed up for the Derby and weigh in a fish on any of the nine days of the event. “You have to make sure that you are signed up to get in on these great prizes provided by our sponsors, this year’s Derby is shaping up to once again be one of the largest of its kind in the country and on the Great Lakes”, said Jim Skoczylas, Vice President of the STWA and Derby Chair.
If you are interested in signing up in person and purchasing one of this year’s STWA Derby lures produced by Eye-Fish Lures stop by our in person sign-up events at the clubhouse on June 3rd from 5:30-7:30pm and June 11th from Noon to 5:30 pm. Participants can also sign-up at one of several in person sign-up stations, namely; Barcelona Market, Bill's Hooks, Catt Creek Bait & Tackle, Lime Lake Marine, Nature's Prize and Nicks Sporting Goods until June 7th. Lastly we will have in-person sign-ups at our club meeting on June 10th along with any questions participants may have prior to the Derby.
